Tesko Steel: energy measurements supporting compensation and fault analysis
IPOE brought together data from the connection points and seven photovoltaic installations. The analysis supported the choice of reactive power compensation and the documenting of supply problems.

The challenge
Tesko Steel, which processes and distributes steel products, needed a shared picture of its energy consumption and generation. A dispersed infrastructure made it difficult to identify the sources of additional charges and to explain disturbances.
The solution
APA deployed the IPOE platform, integrating data from the main connection points and from seven photovoltaic installations on the halls and office buildings. The measurements made it possible to assess network parameters and to identify the problem of reactive power charges.
On the basis of the data, a reactive power compensator was selected and installed. Monitoring supplied the diagnosis, and the technical solution made it possible to limit the unfavourable reactive energy balance.
Results
After compensation was applied, the additional reactive power charges described in the deployment record were eliminated. This came from combining the analysis of measurements with an intervention in the installation, not from starting monitoring alone.
Recorded data on voltage surges and dips was also used in documenting a failure and in the related compensation claim. The measurement history made it possible to relate the event to the recorded supply conditions.
